Vitamins for Your Hair

Healthy hair is not only a pleasure to
behold, it is pleasing to the person
that has it. A single follicle on the
human scalp produces approximately .35
millimeters of hair shaft per day. The
cycles of growth of each follicle
consist of the building up and tearing
down of the structure. After a period of
rest the follicle is built anew from raw
materials and each hair follicle goes
through this identical processes as it
grows longer and stronger. A
high-quality liquid multivitamin
supplies the body with the proper amino
acids, vitamins and minerals that you
may not be receiving in your diet to
help create beautiful hair.

Along with stress, toxins in the
environment, exposure to the sun,
cigarette smoke (actively or passively
inhaled), excess alcohol consumption and
lack of sleep sometimes makes our bodies
work overtime to maintain a standard of
marginal health - not optimal.

These factors may lead to a decline in
our cosmetic appearance, including our
hair, being compromised and weakened.
Because we consider our hair to be
expendable and not needed to maintain
your health, at least our physical
health, it tends to be the last part of
us to receive attention.

The result of this is dull, lifeless
hair, or even retarded (slowed) hair
growth. What should enhance our best
features has become a deterrent to our
beauty as individuals and the way others
possibly perceive our health and how
attractive we appear to them. This does
not have to be so. Remember, people
subconsciously use triggers like how
healthy your face or hair is to make a
subconscious judgment about your overall
health.

Taking proper, daily vitamins and
minerals plays a huge role in keeping
your hair healthy. Any nutritional
deficiencies can lead to thinning hair
or even total baldness. It is a
well-known fact that an under-active
thyroid can result in frizzy or brittle
hair while an overactive thyroid turns
hair greasy and limp. The goal is proper
supplementation and proper nutritional
balance.

Your hair ultimately reflects the
overall condition of your body. If your
body is healthy and well-nourished, your
hair will be your shining glory. If you
are having any health problems or
suffering from any nutritional
deficiencies, your hair may stop growing
or show damage or become brittle. If
your body is in good health, you can
maximize your genetic growth cycle
through taking the proper blend of amino
acids and B-vitamins.

It is also important to include B-6,
biotin, inositol and folic acid in the
supplemental program. It has been found
that certain minerals including
magnesium, sulfur, silica and zinc are
also very important toward maintaining
healthy hair.

Beta-carotene is also important to hair
growth. This is so because beta-carotene
is converted to vitamin A as the body
needs it, helps maintain normal growth
and bone development, protective
sheathing around nerve fibers, as well
as promoting healthy skin, hair and
nails.

Besides making lifestyle changes, taking
the following supplements every day is
recommended to boost your hair growth:

Vitamin B-complex - 50 mg. of the major
B-vitamins (including folate, biotin and
inositol)

Vitamin B-6 - 50 mg. of vitamin B-6

Vitamin C with bioflavonoids - one to
two grams daily Vitamin E - 400 to 800
IU daily

Beta-Carotene - 10,000 to 15,000 IU of
beta-carotene daily

One recommended daily dose of magnesium,
sulfur, zinc

Flaxseed oil - one tbsp daily or one
tablet

Beta-Carotene - 10,000 to 15,000 IU of
beta-carotene daily

Certain vitamins, minerals and
amino-acids are crucial to the metabolic
pathways involved in keratin protein
(hair) metabolism. Without the nutrients
cited, it is well known that the hair
growth process will slow or cease,
leading to a potential loss of hair and
substantial degradation of hair health.
There is a rather adequate research
basis to justify product effectiveness
claims for a vitamin, mineral and
amino-acid complex designed to supply
the nutrients needed by healthy growing
hair. Think about it.

4 Things You Didn't Know About Vitamins

When vitamins were first created
synthetically, their creators may not
have foreseen the extent to which they
would become a part of everyday life. It
seems odd to consider that vitamin C,
the first vitamin made in a laboratory,
was actually synthesized in 1935. The
world was an entirely different place
then - most people cooked and ate
nutritious, well balanced home meals.
The pace of life was more orderly. Work
was not the dominant and demanding force
it is now. Images of bone thin women
weren't plastered on the covers of
magazines. In all, there seemed to be a
more healthy relationship with the body,
and what was needed to take care of it.

Fast forward to today, and vitamins are
even available in the supermarket. They
seem to fit well into the demands of our
modern society too. We certainly need
every little bit of help to keep up with
what's required of us.

But some good things have come out of
the development and acceptance of
vitamin supplements. One powerful
understanding is the effect that
nutrients like vitamins can not only
prevent diseases, but they can actually
treat some. For example, way back in
1747, people knew that citrus fruits
like lemons could help people with
scurvy. But it wasn't considered very
credible in the mainstream. Although
those whose lives depended on it, those
individuals on long sea voyages, knew
this truth and used it well, even when
it wasn't official policy.

Here are 4 more little known facts about
vitamins:

* When A Vitamin Is Not A Vitamin

The supplement group often called
Vitamin P are actually not vitamins.
These are bioflavanoids, which help keep
the capillaries and blood vessels
healthy. They prevent vitamin C from
oxidizing, and the bioflavanoids
actually increase the effectiveness of
vitamin C.

Bioflavaoids also help prevent bleeding
and bruising, and support the immune
system, preventing infection. They are
often found in the same places as
vitamin C, such as the skin and pith of
citrus fruit, grapes, papaya, and
cherries. They are also found in
peppers, onions, and garlic.

* Our Intestines Do Double Time As A
Vitamin Factory

We actually produce two vitamins in our
intestines - biotin and vitamin K. They
are made there by the 'good' bacteria
that also keep harmful bacteria, yeast,
and other microorganisms at bay. When
our gut bacterial population is
imbalanced, one of the things that is
affected is our ability to make these
vitamin. That's why probiotics are so
important.

Biotin is stored in the skin, and when
we're in the sun, it becomes a good
source of vitamin D. Vitamin K is
important for bone health.

* Energy Boosting Vitamin

Niacin, one of the B group vitamins, is
great for tiredness, irritability, and
digestive problems. This is due to the
fact that it improves our ability to
absorb nutrients from food. Niacin is
found in cheese, peanuts, beef, liver,
chicken, eggs, fish, and whole grains.

* Magnesium, Heart Health, And Metabolic
Syndrome

Metabolic syndrome is a condition where
people have high blood pressure, high
blood sugar levels, high levels of fats
in their blood,, and low levels of
healthy cholesterol. Often it is
challenging for people with metabolic
syndrome to lose weight, but more
seriously, if can develop into diabetes
and heart disease.

But scientists found that having a diet
high in magnesium lowered the risk of
developing metabolic syndrome by as much
as 31%PRCTG%. Magnesium can be found in green
vegetables, avocados, whole grains.
bananas, nuts and milk.

Hair Vitamins and Hair Loss

Vitamins are mysterious types of things.
We only really notice when they aren?t
there but teachers, Doctors and the rest
of the medical profession are always
telling us how important they are. Add
to this the commercial interest selling
us supplements then it is no wonder that
people can get confused. The evidence
for particular hair vitamins involved in
hair loss can also be rather confusing.

We all need to have the correct level of
vitamins in our body in order that it
works correctly. They help the cells of
the body to manufacture important
substances that are essential for
metabolism. If levels fall then this may
lead to certain chemical reactions in
the body either not taking place or
reducing in their output. This is then
called a deficiency condition and is
often identified by the outward signs
shown by the body. These signs are very
particular to the type involved.

The first deficiency disease identified
was scurvy. Scurvy describes the signs
of the deficiency of vitamin C and
involves bleeding gums and teeth falling
out. All this is caused because C is
needed to produce connective tissue that
holds the gums and teeth together.
People get scurvy because they don?t
have enough C in their diet. Most
vitamins are provided in the diet and as
a result this is another reason for
people making sure that their diet is
balanced.

The evidence for particular ones being
involved in hair loss is difficult to
quantify and we only have animal
research and the signs shown by people
suffering deficiencies to go on. Vitamin
B is made up of a group of substances
and is sometimes referred to as a
complex. They are important for many
metabolic reactions. As hair involves
the manufacture of the protein keratin
it is not surprising that the B complex
is needed. Inositol is one of the parts
of the B complex. It has been shown in
animals and humans to cause hair loss
and eczema when levels in the body are
low. There is some evidence that males
may require slightly more Inositol than
females. Biotin is another component of
the B complex and once again its
deficiency causes hair loss. The
Pantothenoic acid part of the B complex
has been shown to cause hair follicles
to degenerate in animals.

Lack of A can cause rough hair and dry
skin and is therefore associated with
the general health of hair and hair
follicles. E is associated with the
aging process but is manufactured by
bacteria in the gut and as a result
deficiencies are rare.

There is also some evidence for the over
dose of some vitamins in causing hair
loss problems. An example of this is A
where, if taken in large amounts hair
loss can result. Stopping taking the A
will reverse the situation and the hair
starts to grow again. In general there
hasn?t been much research in the results
of taking too many supplements.

You should make sure that your diet
contains sufficient amounts of all of
them but in particular C, A, B6, B12 and
Folic acid. It is quite easy to do this
if you are maintaining the standard
balanced diet of fruit, vegetables and
protein sources such as meat. The time
to worry is if you are not eating one of
these basic units for example fruits or
vegetables. In this case you might need
to consider supplements in the form of
tablets. Anyone on a balanced diet
doesn?t need to have supplements as all
the extra will be wasted anyway. In some
cases taking too many supplements can
cause overdose and this should be
avoided too. If your diet provides you
with sufficient amounts of vitamins then
taking a supplement is a waste of time
and money and could cause further
problems.

Hair Vitamins can be obtained in the
form of a balanced diet or as
supplements. Only with all of the facts
at hand can people be expected to weigh
up the advantages and disadvantages
without having to just accept sales
hype. Further information on the
alternatives for people looking into
hair replacement and hair treatment can
be found on T J Vincent?s web site Hair

fatigue-and-pregnancy-can-be-normal-or-it-may-be-a-sign-you-are-nutritionally-depleted-and-suffering-a-double-dose-of-pregnancy-fatigue-

Fatigue And Pregnancy, Can Be Normal Or
It May Be a Sign You Are Nutritionally
Depleted And Suffering A Double Dose Of
Pregnancy Fatigue.

Is it normal to have fatigue during
pregnancy? Read on to discover why
fatigue and pregnancy go hand in hand
and what you can do to make sure you are
not nutritionally depleted but have
normal fatigue during pregnancy.

Pregnancy is an amazing event in a
woman's life. No matter how long or how
hard we study pregnancy we will never
fully understand why women get fatigue
in early pregnancy.

Fatigue and pregnancy go hand in hand
caused by the growing baby:

From the moment of conception, the
developing fetus needs lots of vitamins
and minerals to ensure normal cell and
organ growth and to prevent congenital
abnormalities. As the developing fetus
grows it also grows a living organ
called the placenta. The placenta allows
vitamins, minerals, antioxidants,
oxygen, nutrients, hormones and blood to
cross from the mother's blood supply to
the developing fetus. This requires a
lot of physical energy and if you are
nutritionally depleted it can cause
fatigue in early pregnancy.

Mothers are care-givers by nature and
during pregnancy they unconditionally,
and continuously give all their reserve
nutrients to their offspring in an
attempt to grow a healthy baby. Under
normal pregnancy this is be a huge
physical drain on the mother's physical
energy level and this is why pregnant
women are given pre-natal vitamins to
try to prevent some of the fatigue in
early pregnancy.

A double dose of fatigue during
pregnancy caused by an unhealthy
nutritional reserve:

Prior pregnancy many men and women are
depleted in vitamins and minerals
because of our lifestyles and the food
we eat. Vitamins and minerals are
essential in building healthy cells and
organs. Many miscarriages are caused by
abnormal eggs and sperms due to the lack
of adequate vitamins and minerals in the
cells prior to conception.

A body lacking vitamins and minerals is
in a depleted state which can cause
physical disease, irritability,
depression and excess fatigue in early
pregnancy.

What to do to minimize pregnancy
fatigue:

Pregnant women need more sleep than
normal as when they sleep there is less
physical stress on the mother's body.
Therefore, sleep gives the mother a
better chance of adjusting to all the
demands of pregnancy, and helps minimize
fatigue during pregnancy.

It is very important as soon as you know
you are pregnant to take vitamins and
minerals, especially folic acid
(600-micrograms) as folic acid helps
prevent congenital abnormalities. If
you are not already supplementing your
diet with vitamins and minerals, then
purchase some until you have an
appointment with your health care
provider to help prevent some of your
pregnancy fatigue.

Better still, if you are planning to get
pregnant, start supplementing your diet
with vitamins and minerals to make your
body more nutritionally sound, reduce
miscarriage risk and reduce the degree
of fatigue in early pregnancy.

OK I have spoken a lot about vitamins,
minerals and antioxidants and you may be
wondering how could you be nutritionally
depleted or even be tired if you already
supplement. Well the truth is most
people supplement with vitamins only and
they supplement with a pill delivery
system which has a very poor absorption
rate. The best way to supplement is a
liquid delivery system which has about a
95%PRCTG% absorption rate. Vitamins alone are
not good enough, the body needs minerals
for optimal health and minerals are
necessary to absorb vitamins.

Pregnancy can be an extraordinary
experience for a woman. It is far more
than growing a baby and dealing with
issues like fatigue. Pregnancy has a
huge emotional, mental, spiritual, and
energetic side to it. The more you
understand these aspects, the easier and
less symptomatic your pregnancy will be.
Learning how to connect with the
emotions of your unborn child will allow
you to enhance your pregnancy experience
and surrender to its normal
physiological process of pregnancy
fatigue.

Prenatal Vitamins and Why They Are
Important!

When you are going to have a baby,
suddenly health becomes more important
than ever. You worry about complications
and whether the baby is getting
everything he or she needs. You also
have to worry about your personal health
so your body is prepared for the
physical demands of pregnancy.

Multivitamins are beneficial to health
at all points in your life, but there
are times when they are just downright
essential and pregnancy is one of them.
Pregnant women need up to 50 percent
more vitamins each day than the average
adult. Calcium, iron, and folic acid are
a few of the most important vitamins
during pregnancy.

We?ve all heard that taking calcium
gives us strong bones. Calcium is
actually stored in the bones themselves
to strengthen them. Your baby needs to
get calcium from you in order to develop
his or her own bones and jumpstart some
of the muscles. If you are not taking
enough calcium during pregnancy, your
body will pull out the needed amounts
from your bones. This weakens your bones
and over time can cause you to develop
osteoporosis. You actually need the same
amount of calcium when you are pregnant
as when you are not. It is just more
vital that you have enough when you are
pregnant and when breastfeeding.

Another risk during pregnancy is
becoming anemic. This occurs when you
have a decreased amount of red blood
cells circulating in your blood stream.
Since red blood cells carry oxygen
throughout the body, anemia essentially
slows the flow of oxygen in your body or
cuts some off completely. In mild cases
it can cause you extra fatigue and
weakness, but in more severe cases you
can cause damage to your heart. You are
much more likely to become anemic during
pregnancy which is why iron is essential
and available to you in prenatal
vitamins. Unlike calcium, your iron
needs go up significantly during
pregnancy. You need the extra iron to
create the baby, placenta, and extra
blood. Iron is especially needed in the
later stages of pregnancy and if your
body does not have the capacity to keep
up with the iron needs, you become
anemic. Sometimes in pregnancy, women
get strange cravings for things like
dirt, ice, paper, or wax. This is called
pica, and is often one symptom of an
iron deficiency.

Folic acid is also essential to the
fetus because lack of it is directly
linked to birth defects in the brain and
spine such as spina bifida, when the
parts of the spine do not form fully.
Folic acid is most needed the first
month of pregnancy before many women
realize they are pregnant, so it is
important to always be on top of folic
intake. It is recommended that women
take a supplement for folic acid because
it is difficult to get the needed
amounts from daily diet.

Choosing a good multivitamin during
pregnancy is key. There is a risk in
overdoing vitamin intake, so stick to
one multivitamin a day, and it?s always
a good idea to talk to your doctor to
get a sense of what your individual
needs are. There are great prenatal
vitamins out there to help keep you and
your baby safe and some are even
starting to taste good! Chocolate
flavored prenatal vitamins are now
available to help manage those chocolate
cravings and to provide essential
vitamins, including iron and calcium for
pregnancy.

Start Your Day Right with the Right
Vitamins

An important part of buying Online
Vitamins and vitamins at your local
retailer is knowing how to read between
the lines. How often do you see hard
selling advertising for diet supplements
and vitamins? These companies use a lot
of boasting to try and sell their
product, and more often than not people
will fall for it. For example, if a
supplement claims to be ?multi-potency?
or ?high-Potency Full Organic?, then you
will want to pay close attention to the
actual ingredient on the bottle. The
reason why they can get away with this
is that many are manufactured in
countries that do not regulate such
companies on what they put on the
bottle.

So when you buy Online vitamins you will
want to really read what they are all
about, and even go so far as to research
some of the ingredients to see if they
do in fact give you what is offered.
Furthermore, when purchasing vitamins
from other countries you will want to
make sure you do the correct conversion
rates for dosages. This is because many
countries use different types of
measurements than we do. But besides
how to find the right one it is
important to know how to take your
vitamins.

As with any type of medication your
vitamins will need to be taken in a
specific way. For some that may mean
taking them on an empty stomach while
other Online Vitamins may require that
you take them with food so that they
absorb better. Make sure to either
check the bottle before you take them or
look online for more specific
instructions. Furthermore, when it
comes to specific vitamins like calcium
it is important to take them a part from
your other vitamins. The reason for this
is because higher doses of calcium can
make it very difficult for your body to
absorb iron. It is mixtures like these
that make it important for you to first
seek advice from your doctor before you
Buy Vitamins.

What?s more, when you are looking to
purchase vitamins to supplement your
daily nutrient needs it is important to
not forget about your children. With
the extreme increase of child obesity
cases on the rise it is important to
make sure your children get the right
amounts of nutrients to keep their
bodies healthy. Just be sure that
before you Buy Vitamins for your
children that you contact their
pediatrician to find out which ones to
buy and at what age they should begin
taking them.

In the end it is important to remember
that vitamins are extremely vital to our
health in today?s world. Too often we
rush around in our busy lives and forget
to eat healthy enough for our bodies to
grow strong. And when you choose the
right vitamin supplement, you are
essentially helping your body fight off
many illnesses. In fact, when you Buy
Vitamins that your body needs you will
also feel more vibrant and therefore be
able to achieve more each day.

ShakleeKids: Shaklee Introduces A New
Line Of Kids Vitamins and Supplements

The new ShakleeKids product line has
been announced by Shaklee. These
products are designed to cover gaps in
children's nutrition due to the types of
foods our children consume today. The
first two products announced are Mighty
Smart and Incredivites. Mighty Smart is
a DHA dietary supplement that contains
the omega-3 fatty acid called DHA.
Mighty Smart comes in the form of an
orange flavored chew which appeals to
young children. The flavored chew is a
much tastier alternative to the standard
sources of DHA--fish and liver.

What is DHA? Why is it important?

DHA is an essential omega-3 fatty acid
that plays many roles in supporting
early brain and vision development.
Among other things, it promotes
cell-to-cell communication and supports
the production of brain chemicals that
control mood and behavior. Shortages of
some brain chemicals has been identified
as a key factor in children with
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). It is
very important for all young children to
have a diet that provides all essential
nutrients. This is very difficult to do
for all required vitamins and
minerals--especially for young children.

This is why a regimen of dietary
supplements is strongly recommended for
all children. Children's brains develop
very quickly after birth. By the time a
child is 5, his brain is already 3 times
as large as it was at birth. DHA
supports brain health and normal brain
function, including memory, focus,
concentration, and attention. At birth,
DHA makes up about 97%PRCTG% of all the
omega-3 fatty acids in the brain and 93%PRCTG%
in the retina. To help maintain these
levels, kids should consume DHA on a
regular basis. The critical need for DHA
in children's development is well
understood, but is not well known by a
lot of parents.

How Much DHA do children need?

Studies show that some kids are not
getting enough of this important brain
nutrient, which is prevalent in fish and
certain meats such as liver. Not only
do kids dislike the taste of such foods,
parents fear the health risks that are
associated with most seafood. Many kids
do not get sufficient levels of DHA from
their normal diet. Studies in the U.S.
have found that the majority get only
20-40 mg a day. Mighty Smart provides
100 mg of DHA per chew, which is the
level that healthy developing children
require.

DHA is obtained from omega-3 oil that
meets Shaklee's high standards for
purity and potency. Mighty Smart has no
artificial colors, sweeteners, or
preservatives and includes natural
orange flavor.

The second new product that is being
offered is a chewable mulitivitamin/
multimineral dietary supplement called
Incredivites.

Incredivites has been formulated to
"close the gap" between the nutrition
most kids are getting versus what their
bodies need. Most kids today get 25%PRCTG% of
their calories from junk food, and
french fries is the number one vegetable
source for many school age children.
There have been many studies done that
indicate that kids that have poor
nutrition do poorly at school.

Poor nutrition has also been linked to
negative impacts to a child's immune
system, bone growth and overall physical
development. This can be the cause of a
lot of missed school time and many other
physical issues as children get older
and involved in numerous school
functions.

Incredivites was formulated as a "super
nutrition boost" primarily for children
ages 4 to 12. Incredivites is the first
children's chewable multivitamin in the
U.S. with lactoferrin. This is a
nutrient found in breast milk and helps
keep kid's immune systemworking as it
should. This allows for children to
avoid sickness and recover quickly when
they do get sick. Incredivites also has
23 essential nutrients and is packed
with 600 IU of Vitamin D per serving.

The Vitamin D is lacking in many kids
due to spending more time inside as
sunlight is a major source of it.
Vitamin D is very important to kids
developing strong bones and teeth. When
kids get the correct amount of Vitamin
D, calcium and phosphorus can be
absorbed much better into their system.
This allows their bones and teeth to
develop strong and correctly.

Incredivites has no artificial flavors,
sweeteners or preservatives added and is
naturally sweetened with xylitol which
does not promote cavities. It is
pleasant tasting and easy for kids to
take.

Incredivites is a great addition to the
ShakleeKids line of products. Like all
Shaklee products, it is always safe and
always works.

Immune System Vitamins Through Power
Packed Foods

One day you are chirpy, bubbly and
bursting with energy. The next day
you're cranky, irritable, low on fuel
and dragging a nasty flu along. And this
is the case all year around. Doesn't
sound too appealing, right?

Well, the good news is that you need not
put up with such sloppy behavior from
your immune system any more. Give your
body's resistance power a shot in the
arm with some natural immune system
vitamins found in these power packed
foodstuffs.

* C For Vitamins?

No, there is nothing amiss, we haven't
forgotten the alphabets or to spell
vitamins. But the C in the vitamins is
probably something that your diet has
been missing for quite some time. No
wonder the cold seems like "death warmed
up".

So the next time you go food shopping,
give those fries and pretzels a skip.
Instead, tank up on some berries,
oranges and lemons. Since summer is
already here, all the more a reason for
you to indulge in some cool lemonade.
Cut it, juice it or pop it-just ensure
that you meet the required amount of 200
milligrams of this immune booster every
day.

* Carotenoids Bomb The Cancer

Fighting cancer can be a long drawn
battle. But with carotenoids in your
arsenal, cancer cells will think twice
before they decide to wage a war on your
immune system.

This immune booster can keep illnesses
right from heart attack and strokes to
cholesterol and cancer at bay. Immune
system vitamins such as carotenoids give
your body the power to wage an
indefinite war of attrition against any
major diseases.

Now, the name may sound too scientific
to digest, but in your diet it merely
morphs into bright and fresh orange
colored carrots, plump blood red
tomatoes, deliciously ripe bananas and a
jug full of creamy milk.

* Slay Dracula With Garlic

Yes, it's pungent and the smell can
drive away even the nastiest of
vampires, including that energy sucking
illness that refuses to leave you. This
immensely flavorful member of the onion
family has the ability to boost the
efficiency of the anti bodies produced
in your body.

What's more? It also plays an important
role in getting rid of potential
carcinogens and toxins. This heart
friendly food is one of the most
effective immune system vitamins that
also help to keep your blood vessels
unclogged.

And if you hate biting into a tiny one,
just grind it into a paste and use a
dash of it in your favorite salad or
that one-minute-instant chicken
sandwich.

* Meatier The Better

You love your lamb chops, garlicky
shrimps, lip smacking fried chicken and
grilled lobster. Now here's a good
enough reason for you to indulge your
wide palate more than occasionally-they
contain immune system vitamins such as
selenium and omega 3 fatty acids that
increases the production of killer cells
in your body.

Oh, but whatever you do, make sure that
you go a little easy on that frying and
grilling. To be on the safe side, try
the steamed version; team it with a
spicy sauce and it still tastes
delectable! Try some of these innovative
approach to safe guard your family's
health in a delicious way.

Immune system vitamins help support your
